Hey, I'm not a mechanic and thanks to this forums I've changed all fluids, installed my sterea, cb, auxiliary lights etc...
That said I was wondering if there was some sort of basic diagram identifying what everything is in the engine compartment. I'm looking to confirm where the EC is, alternator, and what a bunch of things are. I'm trying to identify what everything is to know the car better, so that in case something happens I can beter troubleshoot.
I realize this is pretty elementary for most of you but if anything out there exists specifically for the JK please share.
Thnx

Dont be an ass to the simple questions rider.
It sounds like what you want is a chiltons or haynes jeep JK manual. Go to pep boys or autozone or somewhere like that and pray they have one. $14-$20. If not call your dealer, they may have one. Or even Amazon . com. There are tons out there for the wrangler. Just make sure your jeep year is included. They cover multiple years in each book.

I've had the same question. You can do some what you want using this link: http://parts.mopar.com/jeep/wrangler-parts.html
Select your Year, Model, then start clicking on the categories and sub-categories. There are some pretty good diagrams and part locators.

EDIT: WAIT lol, still can't find the alternator (only alternator bracket) and can't find what they would call the E.C. :S (I'm hopeless)

what about taking a HD pic of your engine compartment and number all of the components you want to identify and post up here.....before you know it the experts on here will have identified every object you marked and you just may get an in-depth description of the function/history of that marked object....just a thought?
