Default Jeep rolling down driveway in 1st gear

Has anyone had any experience with their JK standard tranny rolling forward or backward while on a hill in gear? I was noticing that my 09 JK rolls down my driveway when it's in gear (1st or reverse) with or without the parking brake on. I have read many posts about the crappy e-brake on these Jeeps, but rolling down a driveway in gear? The driveway is not that steep and I haven't been hard on it at all (10k miles). It doesn't roll fast, just creeps slowly down the hill. Any thoughts?

yes, its normal. my driveway is almost flat and mine rolls if i dont yank up the e-brake almost hard enough to break it.

What do you have for gears? 3.21? 3.73?
Do you have bigger diameter tires?

What ever you have, get the parking brake adjusted. That's 99% of the problem.

i mean its not "normal", but a ton of people have complaints with the parking brake system.

my parking brake has worked awesome since i adjusted it last, about 6 months ago. I park on a steep driveway, i check the load is on the brake before getting out. It's never rolled on me. I don't park it on any sort of incline without the brake...

Same here. If I don't make sure the e-brake is cranked right up, my JK may roll. My drive way is not steep at all either.

Make sure you turn your wheels the right way - otherwise ! ! ! ! !

this thread finally got me to do my adjustment. didnt make much difference.. i tighten them until they make offset scraping, but not constant scraping. it had none to begin with, now it has about 1/4 scraping. I didnt want to go any tighter and risk drag. Parking brake still goes up the whole way. Aw well.

Someone mentioned slamming the brake while reversing helped theirs. I tried it awhile back and it may have helped out mine. I just tried it even though I thought mine worked well enough. Wortha try, I haven't had my rear rotors off in awhile to check out if it'd even do anything however.

you auto-adjust it by rolling slowly in reverse and lift the parking brake hard. but the auto-adjustment rarely works properly anyway..

There is no auto adjuster mechanism on our parking brake.

However, pulling up hard on the lever while going back and forward MAY equalize the two sets of shoes, making the brake more effective.

Mine went from something like 5 clicks to hold, down to 3 clicks to hold.
If your lever goes all the way up, this technique will not help you.

    So...
Try adjusting 'til it drags a little, equalize them as above, and repeat a few times.
You should notice the brake becomes more effective with less travel of the lever.
