Quick question on Brakes

Quick question on Brakes
I just finished putting rear brakes on my 2008 JK with 32,000 miles. The outside brake pads were only 2/3rds worn out, but the inside brake pads were shot.
Here is my problem/mess up. I broke the piston/caliber clip off the one on the driver side. I went ahead and finished the rears. I had to turn the Jeep around to get the passenger rear as my garage is to small to do it in otherwise and everything felt great. I am going out for a test drive, but was wondering if this is something that will cause more damage if I do not replace the new brake pads with new ones with the clip (the passenger side was no issue and has the caliber clip).
I also reused the original retaining clips as the brake pads did not come with any.
I also forgot to use the lube they comes with the brake pads for squeaks. I got these at AutoZone and they were the more expensive ones and not the cheapest ones.
Any thoughts would be welcomed and appreciated. If I ask a local garage they will tell me to replace the brake pads just for the buisness.

First, it sounds like the caliper pins might be froze up (see pic). The caliper squeezes from the back and front at the same time, if the pins get rusty or frozen it will only push from the back and may create/cause the kind of wear you descibed.

As for the rest, I might just start over with new pads and clips. I would never trust something rigged up or broken, especially on the brake system.

1. JKingAround,that would mean pulling the new ones off. When I drove around town they seemed fine.
2. kaptkrappy, the pin/clip that broke was from the new brake pads. I used the write up to go by. It and other write ups have really been a big help in doing my own upkeep on the jeep.
Thanks guys for the replys. I will stop by AutoZone tomorrow and see if they will front me the replacement brakepads so I can only have to take it apart once. Then take the old/new ones back.

The retaining clips/sliders can be purchased along with slider pin rubber boots. I got 2 sets from Amazon. A set for me and one for a friend. BTW both his and my left rear pads had a spring/slider clip missing. We both added the missing one. Kit # Raybestos H5774A Disc Brake Hardware Kit
