Behold Omix-ADA's 1973 CJ-5 Super Jeep

Omix-ADA’s exhibit model is said to be the most immaculate of the 300 Super Jeeps produced.

We just never grow tired of the 1973 Super Jeep.

After all, with a production run of only 300 units, the classic AMC CJ-5 is by far one of the rarest Jeeps you’ll find. And according to Gear Patrol, this ’73 Super Jeep that sits in the collection at Omix-ADA (located near Atlanta) is one of the most immaculate you’ll find.

Beauty, isn’t she? Yep, some things just never grow old.

In fact, it makes you wish you could turn back the clock some 44 years and scoop one up. Especially considering that if one happened to wind up on the auction block, it likely would be way out of reach for most of us.

The interesting thing, however, is that it’s hard to imagine any other vehicle with that wild paint combo having a fraction of the appeal that the AMC CJ-5 has. So after coming across Gear Patrol‘s story, we pondered a little longer on what really makes so many people covet the Super Jeep so much.

Is it the nostalgia of the vehicle? The fact that you just know there aren’t many more left out there, considering the rarity of actual sightings? Or does the rather bizarre blue, red, and white paint work give the CJ-5 more of a hotrod appeal, which speaks to the free spirit of the seventies that some people still yearn for? That could certainly create a deeper passion for a Jeep representative of the era. Of course, that paint job also gives the AMC Super Jeep a unique patriotic look, which certainly would explain its appeal.

In all honesty, it’s really hard to pinpoint exactly what the draw is to the wild-colored CJ-5. But we think it’s pretty clear that it’s a certified Jeep icon, and well deserving of all the accolades.
