Chinese Jeep Wrangler Is Freedom’s Nightmare

China has become a vast new market for almost every auto manufacturer in the last decade. With trade embargoes lifting and a rising middle class that wants cars, it would be stupid for an auto manufacturer to ignore the Chinese marketplace. That said, these pictures of a new Jeep Wrangler being sold in China have us a bit confused.

In the photos, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is essentially getting straddled by a hot model. While I’m all for hot models and straddling, the Jeep in question has a weird accessory. Hint, it’s not the hot model. No, if you look closely to the wheels, the hubcaps have been painted in a way that they resemble the Communists Party logo.

While we’ve seen Dragon Edition Jeeps before that are borderline racist, the Communist Party logo on a Jeep is just a tad bit unsettling. That becomes especially true when you consider what the Jeep moniker has represented since its inception in WWII: freedom and democracy.

You’d be hard pressed to find a Jeep ad that didn’t mention either the freedom you’ll enjoy by owning one, or how it was built in America. Sure, we’re now a globalized society, free to buy and sell throughout the world, but the brand has been built atop something uniquely American. So it’s just strange how this one is decked out.

But enough of this rather lame expose, let’s just get back to checking out the hot model.
