Consumer Reports Ranks Wrangler Unlimited Worst Value

As Jeep lovers, I guess we have to take the good with the bad. Unfortunately, in this case, there’s more of the latter than the former.

In a recent Consumer Reports study, the Wrangler Unlimited topped the list as the worst new car value on the market, according to a USA Today report. That contrasts strongly with how popular the SUV is when it comes to sales.

The Wrangler Unlimited wasn’t the only Jeep to make the worst value list. Consumer Reports also gave the Cherokee Latitude a failing score.

When it came to the Wrangler Unlimited, Consumer Reports called the Jeep “hard-riding, ponderous, uncomfortable, and unreliable,” noting that it costs 77 cents a mile to operate, compared with 52 cents a mile for the top-rated Toyota Camry Hybrid.

I find irony in that because, as a Wrangler fan, I’d be more disappointed if the Jeep came closer to the numbers associated with a Camry Hybrid.
