Edelbrock’s ‘Brock Crawler’ proved to be a success at Easter Jeep Safari, suggesting that the blower’s production may start soon.

Edelbrock is a name you can’t help but have heard of in your life, whether you’re a car enthusiast or even slightly interested in cars. The name carries a lot of history in the automotive world, and has been the greatest supplier of aftermarket carburetors, intake manifolds, cylinder heads and, of course, superchargers.

JK Wrangler owners have had their glory with the E-Force line of Edelbrock superchargers, but now they may have some much-needed company from the JL crew. During JK-Forum’s tour of the company’s Torrance, California headquarters last week, we got a chance to gawk at their development JL Wrangler that has been equipped with an experimental blower that uses the JK kit’s 1320 Eaton rotors.

Edelbrock naturally carted the Jeep off to Utah for the 2019 Easter Jeep Safari (which still retains the glorious dirt cakes from the journey, as you can see), and used the excursion to log crucial data on the Wrangler’s overall driveability, as well as gather valuable feedback from participants who got a chance to drive it.

“We went out there to tweak and tune the calibration in an environment where people are going to use these things,” said Nick Purciello, Edelbrock Product Manager. “We wanted to make sure that the way the pedal felt and the torque delivery met the demands of rock crawling, and the feedback we got was really positive.”

Minor Adjustments

Of course, the engineering team needed to make some physical alterations to the kit, since the JL’s oil fill cap placement sits directly below the blower. Their solution? Make the oil filter the fill cap. Neat and convenient, just the way we like it. They also decided to stick with the 1320 rotors to make it as plug-and-play as possible and work with the factory airbox. You will still be able to use aftermarket systems and snorkels without problems, so no worries on that front. The kit will also be 50-state emissions compliant and comes with a three-year/36,000-mile powertrain warranty for new JLs when it comes out.

While they understably wouldn’t divulge any final numbers, Purciello did say that it will be “300-plus,” which is promising. Edelbrock is looking to launch the kit this summer.
