Jeep JL Wranger fire

Silver JL Wrangler was sporting manufacturer plates, which is consistent with a Jeep test vehicle.

A Jeep JL Wrangler caught on fire at the FCA Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, reports one of our JK-Forum sources. The silver JL Wrangler was sporting manufacturer plates (noted by the “M” on the plates) which is consistent with a Jeep test vehicle. The Auburn Hills location is also home to the Chrysler Technology Center, where vehicles and automotive technologies are frequently tested.

The Wrangler caught on fire and the flames nearly engulfed the test Jeep. FCA security rushed to the scene to secure the site and the roads surrounding the burning Wrangler were shut down temporarily. Two fire engines soon arrived to put out the blaze.

At this time the cause of the fire is unknown, although it looks to have begun in the engine compartment. There have been no reported injuries. Stay tuned to JK Forum for more on this story as more details emerge.
