Autoblog pops the hood on the supercharged, 707-horsepower TrackHawk prototype.

There’s nothing like popping the hood on a vehicle to find out what it’s really made of. Especially, if it’s a ride that could easily be mistaken for something that’s already on the market.

Take, for example, the hotly-anticipated 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk. It’s essentially a far-higher-powered version of the Grand Cherokee SRT. So the only way to confirm their difference is via the TrackHawk’s supercharged, 707-horsepower engine. Now Autoblog has managed to see it firsthand.

Sure, Jeep CEO Mike Manley has already confirmed that the Grand Cherokee TrackHawk will be making its debut this year. Still, it’s exciting to know that someone has actually seen a model of the Jeep fitted with the hellcat-inspired engine.

Besides the engine, there are also a few styling details that distinguish the TrackHawk from its more standard counterpart. For one, the fog lights and lower grille vents have been totally eliminated on the higher-powered edition. As most would expect, the variant also features a much more aggressive front fascia.

Rumor has it that the Grand Cherokee TrackHawk might also get quad exhaust tips. Of course, we’re still at least a few months from actually being able to buy one of these bad boys. So there are likely to be a few more unique design details emerging, as well.

But for now, we’ll just revel in the fact that we can confirm there’s an actual prototype of the Jeep equipped with the supercharged engine. That alone, makes it even more worth the wait.
