All Hail: 2016 Nitto Tires King of the Hammers – Mega Gallery
It is simply the world’s toughest one-day race: the King of the Hammers, which takes place every year in Johnson Valley, California. And this year was even tougher.
This year’s race, the 2015 Nitto Tires King of the Hammers, should remain fresh in everyone’s memories for years to come, it was that good.
The race was going on strong until a log jam developed at Jackhammer that prevented many racers from going through. A rig got stuck and the alternate route was eliminated when the winch point rolled away and the tow rope pulled a boulder out of the ground.
The Top 3 were able to pass through before that happened on Lap 1 and Randy Slawson is your King of the Hammers. Erik Miller finished second when, for the second year in a row, he developed a steering problem that eliminated him from the win. Finally, Levi Shirley came in third and was the top Independent Front Suspension rig to finish.
