Sometimes you have to wonder if there is a modification genie out there just nodding his head: “Done!” And boom, there’s another something that we all need to buy. But let’s say that you are new to the JK community. You have a bone stock new ride, and you’re not sure where to start on your aftermarket journey. First off, welcome to the family. So if you’re here looking for ideas, let’s get you moving in one of the easiest directions — things that you can do at home, even if you don’t have a ton of mechanical experience. Step 1: read this week’s How-To Tuesday article.

Without giving up all of the details of the article, I’ll give you one helpful starting point: tires. The stock tires on the JK are, um, nice. Listen, they are good enough to get you by. And most people who have a Wrangler will likely stick with the stock tires, and then replace them as necessary with another fairly stock tire. But the JK Forum community isn’t about sticking with normal tires, are we? No. Tires and rims can be a nice chunk of change, no doubt. But it really is one of the quicker ways to differentiate your JK from the high school girl down the road that wants a convertible, but Dad wants something safer than a v6 Mustang for his little princess.
