Jeep and Dodge Announce New Recalls

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Another day and another set of recalls plaguing the automotive industry. This time, though, no one has died, and no one has been reportedly hurt, which is something that is definitely in the minds of automakers at the moment. The current recall affects our beloved Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango for a faulty fuel pump.

According to Chrysler communications, around 200,000 Jeeps and Durangos are being recalled over an issue with the fuel pump relay, which could fail and potentially stall the engine. Chrysler is really being preemptive right now, which is both good for their PR department, but it also helps showcase that the NHTSA doesn’t need to get involved like it has with a few other companies.

Currently the Jeep and the Dodge, from 2010 to 2011, are the only two vehicles recalled, although the Associated Press has learned that it could possibly affect more vehicles because the type of relay that is failing is one that’s in other cars starting from around 2007. Let’s just hope there hasn’t been any cover-up like the GM situation.
