Jeep Fail: Driver Wades Into Sea Water & Gets Stuck

Jeep fail

Here’s a textbook example of what not to do at a beach.

Brace yourself for the up coming fail, because while everyone else in the world can see a bad idea taking place, two buddies in a Jeep thought they were having the time of their life in San Luis Pass in Texas.

Video supplied by ABC 13 Eyewitness News shows a Jeep wading through some incredibly deep water. We aren’t even talking about brushing up against the first few feet of water. This driver is several yards away from solid ground. However the Jeep keeps trudging along quite triumphantly, till it turns unexpectedly towards deeper water, and that’s when things start to go wrong.

Obviously the Jeep stops working and becomes stuck, which is when a large crowd of people begin to approach the jeep in order to help direct it ashore. It doesn’t work.

A line of other 4x4s end up winching themselves together as a train in order to pull the Jeep out. While they may have prevented the Jeep from being washed away, it’s our guess that the engine is hydro-locked.

So here’s a pro tip for anyone thinking this is a good idea: it isn’t. And if your buddy who isn’t driving thinks it’s a good idea, it’s probably a terrible idea. Total fail from the get go.

While Jeeps are known for their off-road capability, they aren’t totally impervious to every element you throw at them. Even if you tackle a relatively mild puddle the wrong way, some bad stuff could happen.

But that said, this lesson is an easy one to learn. If you want an off-road vehicle, go buy an off-road vehicle. And if you want a boat, go buy a boat. A Wrangler can’t do both.
