Jeep Earns Two Crowns at Legendary Mudfest

New Compass and Grand Cherokee Trailhawk earn top honors at annual Mudfest event.

The Jeep nameplate snatched up two big awards at this year’s 23rd annual Mudfest event.

One is for the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass, voted the winner in the Compact Utility Vehicle category. The second is for the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, crowned the king of the Premium Utility Vehicle segment.

For those that don’t know, Mudfest is a gathering of journalists from the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA). They get together for two days to put vehicles through a series of rigorous tests, both off-road and on. This year’s event featured 28 NWAPA journalists putting 27 vehicles through the paces.

Of course, it’s seldom a surprise when a Jeep wins one or two of the annual awards, considering the nameplate is always one of the frontrunners at Mudfest.

“Jeep vehicles are renowned for going off the beaten path and this duo’s extreme off-road capability with competent on-road performance earned the votes of Northwest Automotive Press Association members,” says Tuan Huynh, NWAPA Mudfest Event Chair.

Still, it’s pretty clear from the comments of Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand, that the Mudfest awards mean a lot to the company.

“We’re thrilled the Northwest Automotive Press Association has recognized both the all-new Jeep Compass and our Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with their prestigious awards,” says Manley.
