Jeep’s Summer Gets Hotter with the Help of Hollywood

New ‘Summer of Jeep’ campaign features three new music tracks from Marvel Cinematic Universe star Jeremy Renner, trio of fine Jeeps.

For the past few summers, Jeep has celebrate the summer months with its ‘Summer of Jeep’ advertising campaign. The campaign combines the hottest jams from the hottest chart-toppers with the brand’s various Trail-Rated models doing all the things they do best. The past summers have brought Jeep together with the likes of OneRepublic, X Ambassadors, and will.i.am.

For 2019, Jeep is ringing in its summer campaign with an up-and-coming music superstar who’s already made their mark on the silver screen: Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Jeremy Renner.

“For consumers, owning a Jeep brand vehicle isn’t about just one defining attribute,” said FCA marketing boss Olivier Francois. “It’s not just about the off-road capability of a Jeep Gladiator or the open-air freedom of a Wrangler or even the luxury of a Grand Cherokee, because all of those vehicles can be all of those things – the Jeep brand is the ultimate SUV brand, it defies labels. The same can be said about Jeremy Renner.”

Renner is no stranger to the music scene, though it’s taken him a while to bring his art to the public. As he told Billboard, “music is a wonderful personal form of expression… [initially] never to be shared.”

“[Renner’s] not just the on-screen action hero,” Francois says. “He is a true Renaissance man with talents that go well beyond acting, as he continues to show us with the introduction of his new music, which is authentic, honest rock n’ roll, and aligns with the same spirit and philosophy of the Jeep brand.”

You won’t find Renner extolling the virtues of taco-seasoned fries in this set of ads. Instead, each of his three new songs — “Main Attraction,” “Nomad,” and “Sign” — are paired with the Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Wrangler in a set of vignettes tied together with a common thread: the freedom that Jeep brings to one and all, whether it’s leaving a stuffy Hollywood party to rock the roadhouse, or dreaming of a wild adventure on the dusty trails and open roads.

“They promote the heck out of their Jeeps,” Renner told Billboard. “Ultimately, there’s not a better platform in my mind.”

Renner originally appeared in another ad campaign earlier this year, one for Ram Trucks in a voice-over role and appearance. Francois then brought Renner aboard after the latter knocked the former’s socks off with his ideas for “the anthem of the most important campaign of the year.”
