Jeep Wagoneer line will be the first to offer streaming television services as a factory option.

Stellantis announced this morning that when the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer hit the streets, they will be the first vehicles to offer streaming television services. Jeep has teamed up with Amazon to offer Fire TV for Auto, introducing many of the same features that Amazon customers enjoy in their homes. This includes television shows, movies, games and more.

“The all-new 2022 model-year Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are designed and engineered to set a new standard for American premium in the large SUV segment,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep® Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis. “Launching Fire TV for Auto as an industry-first technology to the Wagoneer lineup illustrates one of the many ways we intend to deliver class-leading technology and connectivity to our customers.”

Jeep Introduces Amazon Fire TV for Auto

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are the first vehicles in the industry to showcase the new Amazon Fire TV for Auto system. Amazon Fire TV for Auto operates seamlessly through the new UConnect 5 infotainment system, allowing passengers to watch their favorite television shows and movies, along with access to games, Alexa and other apps.

“We reimagined Fire TV for the automobile with a purpose-built experience that delivers the best in entertainment, anywhere you go,” said Sandeep Gupta, Vice President and General Manager of Amazon Fire TV. “With Fire TV built in, customers can stream their favorite shows, see if they left the lights on at home with Alexa, and take advantage of unique controls through the Uconnect system.”

When the 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer is in motion, Amazon Fire TV for Auto allows rear passengers to watch television on the rear screens while the front passenger can watch on the screen mounted on their side of the dashboard. A filter system prevents the driver from watching the front passenger screen while the Jeep is in motion, but when the SUV is parked, the driver can also watch on the main infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard. The system is controlled via touchscreen access or with the unique system controller, which also features push-to-talk Alexa access.

In addition to watching streaming television shows and movies, Amazon Fire TV for Auto allows you to download content. This is ideal for long trips where internet connection is sketchy, allowing the passengers to enjoy their program without interruption should a solid connection be lost.

Premium Wagoneer Luxury

Although we have only seen the upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer in concept form, the brand has made it clear that the return of the legendary name will come with unprecedented American luxury. The concept features a huge spread of screens, allowing more access than any other infotainment system on the market. The concept also features a McIntosh sound system, making Jeep the first brand to offer this super-premium speaker setup.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
