Wrangler JL Moab Spotted Near FCA Headquarters

Jeep Wrangler JL Moab

Is this Wrangler JL Moab the real deal, or just a dealer-constructed special using the latest Jeep catalog?

In reality, the brand-new Jeep Wrangler JL is still a very young product. It hasn’t even been that long since the very first iterations of this hotly anticipated redo hit dealer lots. But if there’s one thing we know about Jeep, it’s that we’re certain to see a slew of special edition models in the near future. The first of which might just be this Jeep Wrangler JL Moab edition, which an alert member at JL Wrangler Forums recently spotted.

The silver Unlimited model was spied sitting atop a carrier in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Which is only around 10 miles from FCA headquarters. Aside from the obvious Moab stickers, this particular Wrangler JL is sporting some parts from Jeep’s catalog that we have yet to see installed on a factory-built JL. That list of goodies includes a set of steel bumpers, blacked-out wheels and trim, and BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2 tires, for starters.

Other differences from the regular Wrangler JL include body-color fender flares, rock rails, a gray Jeep logo, and black tow hooks. Of course, these accessories, including the Moab stickers, are already available in the current JL parts catalog. Which means this could be some sort of dealer-constructed special. We also have only one picture to go by. So there’s no telling what, if any, interior changes are in place.

Regardless, we’d be shocked if there aren’t numerous Wrangler JL variants on the way for the 2019 model year. There’s simply too much profit to be made by Jeep to go backwards on building these sorts of things. In the meantime, we’ll wait for further proof that the Wrangler JL Moab is indeed a real thing.
