Can You Live in a Jeep? One Adventurer Finds Out The Fun Way

By -

A two-door Jeep Wrangler isn’t very spacious, but is there enough room to live in one?

The Jeep Wrangler is an off-road machine that can go almost anywhere. Sometimes on these 4×4 adventures, you get stuck, stranded, or just get too tired to press on and need to sleep. If you’re prepared for such a situation, you have a tent, food, water, and a sleeping bag handy. If you aren’t, you may need to sleep in your Jeep. A weekend of Jeeping and camping with friends can be a blast, but what if you don’t want the adventure to end?

YouTuber Jake, of the channel I Am Jakehad just such a dream. He wanted to travel and explore the country. And he had to complete the journey in his trusty Jeep.

His plan is to complete a 50 state road trip, all while living out of his two-door Wrangler. He’s already been at it for a year and periodically checks back in to tell his viewers how it’s done.

In his videos, he explains the ins and outs of his living situation. For instance, where does he sleep? Inside the Jeep, he uses a modified steel framed cot and two different types of sleeping bags. He also isn’t alone. His dog is along to keep him company and often shares the sleeping bag with him.

His Jeep has also had several major modifications to help him haul all his gear. It has a roof rack and rear storage rack. He even has a solar panel setup for charging while in remote areas. The back of the Wrangler is also his kitchen. The fold-down rear tailgate is where the Coleman two burner camp stove sits when he cooks. Do you still have questions? Check out the video to see his full setup. And be sure to let us know in the comments if you could live out of your Jeep for a year.
