Pop Star Emma Zander Shows Jeep Love in Latest Music Video

By -

‘Jeep for the Summer’ may be a bubblegum pop track, but it does a kickass job of getting young girls into Wranglers.

Let’s get this straight. This song is vapid, insipid, and paints a very self-entitled picture of young Californians. It’s truly awful in so many ways we’ve lost count. Yet, it’s stuck in our heads. It’s also, for some reason, left us all desiring Venti Organic Half-Soy Non-fat Decaf Iced Gingerbread Frappuccinos. From what we gather, this young lady has acquired a soft-top Jeep Wrangler for the summer and, through this Jeep, she feels free. She is also very keen on having her picture taken and go to a dance party.

The song and video are by Ferris Pier. As far as we can tell, that’s the moniker an American songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer called Jonathan Pasma goes by. Emma Zander, the voice and the lady in the video, is an L.A.-based singer and top-line writer. A top-liner is a songwriter that doesn’t need to play any instruments and works out a song over a pre-made beat.

In short, it means the beat is more important than the lyrics and why producers are now household names and bring in singers rather than the other way round.

It’s hard to be cynical, despite the bait offered by the song and video. The idea of freedom and exploration is baked into the Jeep name, and when so much music lately is name dropping aspirational brands such as Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and so on, it’s refreshing that a vehicle is being mentioned in relation to what it offers rather than as a display of wealth.

You may love it, you may hate it, but it’s hard to argue with the freedom of a Jeep to travel around in. Even if it is to get some ice cream and go to the beach.
