New Jeep Renegade Spied in Michigan

2015 Jeep Renegade Spy Shot

Street shots of the new Jeep Renegade have popped up.

Well, at least some seem to think they have, according to an Auto Evolution report.

The photos, snapped in Michigan, give us a pretty good view of a vehicle that features some of the same design elements of the Jeep Renegade that debuted at the Geneva Auto Show last month.

The trouble is, apparently some of the negative opinions expressed about the crossover after the Geneva unveiling seem to gain more weight when you see the cute-ute on the street.

The Auto Evolution report quotes a JeepRenegade Forum member by the name of “minibouncer” as being far less impressed with the crossover after seeing it in person, which reflects some of the same views expressed about the crossover following its Geneva unveiling … namely, that it doesn’t quite live up to the Jeep name.

“At first I LOVED the renegade, but after seeing it in person, they REALLY need to trim up the side and front of the vehicle,” notes the member. “There’s tons of unnecessary material in my opinion. The doors are HUGE and look like they are made of flimsy plastic. Is this a body kit??? Also, the roof did NOT have the removable top option. It was stick shift. Rear disc brakes. The vehicle sits lower than I thought it would. I guess I’ll have to wait and see the final touched-up versions that hit the dealerships.”

Another, however, goes on to note that the SUV could be a test mule for the new Fiat 500X, which we would be willing to give a lot more leeway. It does have a Fiat quality to it from the side, but it’s much more likely that’s it’s a pre-production Renegade, which is expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2015.
