We Love this ‘Plumb Crazy Purple’ Jeep CJ7 Restomod

Jeep CJ7

Both rare and beautiful, this CJ7 proves why Jeep should really go down the rabbit hole and make more builds like this.

One of the rides we don’t see often enough, it seems, is the CJ7. So when we come across one we had to check it out. Although the originals and bone-stock ones are cool enough, this restomod has that extra special sauce, thanks to some creative Mopar parts mixing.

The most obvious aspect of this CJ7 from Leake Auction Company is what meets the eye. Raiding the Mopar paint options, “Plumb Crazy Purple” is the right choice for this ride, and works unusually well with the tan top. If you’re thinking that color only really belongs on the V8 muscle cars of yore, worry not, because a fresh 5.7-liter Hemi V8 provides a crazy 345 horsepower in this bad boy.

Another thing we like about this build is the fact it isn’t hacked together. In fact, it’s actually really well-built with an upgraded interior including new custom upholstered seats and gauges that reflect the more modern propulsion under the hood. No loose wires or missing trim panels here. This Jeep is truly complete. It even has power windows, power steering, and air conditioning. Every-day usability in a classic package!

Although the suspension setup isn’t specified on this frame-off restoration we can assume a mild or moderate lift. Essential, of course for clearing the appropriate all-terrain tires mounted on 15-inch Weld wheels.

Taking an opposite approach to what SRT is currently doing, this Jeep is actually quite tame, all things considered. It very well could have had the SRT 6.4-liter V8 or even the Hellcat V8, or even the Demon V8. Instead, it just sticks with the 5.7-liter. We like that, because you’ll never yearn for more power, but you also won’t be in over your head with ambitious throttle inputs.
