Renegade Corrosion Issues Surface

Jeep Renegade Underbody

It looks like Jeep still has a few issues to work out with the Renegade.

A number of people who bought the new compact SUV, which is being built in Italy and Brazil, have cited issues with the underbody of the vehicle, according to an Autoevolution story.

Some of the trouble spots include seam sealant, corrosion, and sound mitigation coating. There have also been some complaints about the plugs for the chassis holes, which are things that you definitely wouldn’t expect from a new Jeep.

Apparently, the chassis plugs are usually added by the dealer during the pre-delivery inspection, but considering that the average consumer probably wouldn’t know that, we’re betting that Jeep is bearing the brunt of the complaints.

So far, the number of complaints are relatively small, but given how many Renegades are being shipped, I doubt that’s of any comfort to those dealing with the issue.
