The Jeep Rubicon 392 Xtreme Recon is a Bronco Killer – and here’s reasons why you need one.

With the high caliber off-road 4×4 competition at an all time high, Jeep pulled the ace out of their sleeve with the Jeep Rubicon 392 Xtreme Recon. Unlike most of the off-road baddies that have been coming out over the past few years, this particular Wrangler comes with a V8. Something the Ford Bronco, the Wrangler’s closest competitor, will never come with – despite Ford’s many V8 options to choose from. The 6.4 liter V8 produces 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque – making for a very aggressively powerful trail blazer.

The Xtreme Recon package, totaling well over $70,000, is worth every penny. Standard equipment includes 35-inch BFGoodrich K02 All-Terrain tires, upgraded and beefier axles, a 1.5 inch factory lift, and exclusive badging and decals all around. With all that power comes a lot of noise, as Jeep was careful to equip this special Jeep with a boisterous exhaust. With the push of a button on the dashboard, you can go from loud to polished in seconds. The hood scoop also serves an important purpose (other than looking cool). Similar to a snorkel, the hood scoop helps reroute water that makes it up that high.

“People have been putting hemis in Wranglers for years,” says Studio MotorsDan Guru. “That’s around $30,000 out of pocket – it can’t be leased, it can’t be financed. This hemi can be.”

The 17-inch wheels that come with this model are bead lock wheels – making the Rubicon 392 Xtreme Recon ready to hit the trails as soon as it’s off the lot. The issue of re-gearing the transmission, which many people have to do when putting bigger tires and smaller wheels on a Wrangler, is already done by Jeep.
