Simple Mods Hybridize Any Savage-built JK Into a Civilized Daily Driver

YouTuber shows you how to turn your Jeep into a more user-friendly vehicle with wallet-friendly resolve.

Some people say you can’t have it all. In the Jeep world, that feels especially true. It seems like an either/or proposition: You can either have a daily driver, or you can have a dedicated off-roader. If you start to blend the two too much, you’re in danger of losing one or the other. But if you play your cards just right, that might not be the case. And this recent video from JK Gear and Gadgets, more than shows you how to get a winning hand. By hand, of course, we mean a Wrangler that’s as capable on the street as it is miles away from civilization.

Everybody loves modifying their Jeep, says host Ben. “But one of the best things about the JK is that it’s a great daily driver. So, I’m gonna talk about a few mods that I think make the Jeep more user-friendly.” And he’s right about this: Once your Wrangler is built to conquer the trails, you might want to consider adding a few more mods to make the thing more livable on a daily basis. What’s more, you don’t really have to break the bank to do it.

Mods to make you and your passengers happy

Right off the bat, he points to a simple mod that makes all the difference if you’ve already lifted your JK: Grab handles. Going around the side, he points out the rear door strap extenders he installed. Not only are they cheap and easy to install, but they make access to the back seats a breeze. Out back, a rear hatch light bar makes access to the rear cargo area a breeze, even on the darkest nights. His Rightline storage bags make packing up the Jeep a breeze, especially on long trips.

Under the hood, a set of aftermarket hood struts make engine access a breeze without having to tilt the hood all the way up. After that, it’s on to some more sensible mods. He can’t get enough of the iDrive throttle control module. As Ben tells it, it’s the “… throttle controller that makes the Jeep drive completely different. It’s crazy.” The steering column-mounted system adjusts the sensitivity of the gas pedal. To him, it “makes the Jeep so much more drivable” in virtually any situation.

And as many of us know, our projects have input from our significant others, whether we want it or not. On that front, Ben installed some aftermarket seat heaters. “If you have a significant other that rides with you,” he says, “they will be very, very, very happy with you for adding this mod.” We certainly can’t argue with that.

In all, there’s a lot of great advice here. The further we get into a build, it’s easy to forget about things like comfort or practicality. This video is a great reality check, and could even serve as inspiration for your next weekend project.
