How-To Spotlight: JK Headlight Replacement

Replacing the headlights on your Jeep JK is not a difficult challenge, even if you have never done it before.
Let’s say that you are in a place where you find yourself down one headlight on your Jeep JK. You were planning on taking it into a parts store that offers to replace it for you with the purchase of a new bulb. But darn your luck, they are too busy to take on the task, so it is all up to you. You are going to have to be the one to change out your headlight. But, you say, you have never had to change a headlight on your JK before. Well, you’re in luck.
JK Forum‘s fine How-To authors have gone through the step-by-step process that you will need to follow in order to change out the headlight bulb on your JK. Granted, this process is not the same as swapping out the entire assembly for something other than an original stock set-up. Doing that would require a few more steps, and you will need to find another article for help going down that particular modification road.

However, with today’s How-To Spotlight article, you should be able to change out both front headlight bulbs in approximately one hour. You’ll likely find that the second headlight will come apart and go back together much more efficiently than the first one. As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect. In this case it is likely that confidence makes for an easier project, too.
If you ever find yourself with the need of a new headlight, or if someone asks for your help with theirs, you should now be considered the resident expert for this task.
