 2002 Jeep Wrangler

Illinois Woman finds that her Jeep has been replaced by a crappy Nissan…then things get even worse!

Imagine walking up to your parking spot and realizing that your Jeep Wrangler has been swapped for another car. That’s exactly what happened to a woman in central Illinois. After an early morning walk, she returned to her 2002 Wrangler. There, she discovered that her Jeep had been stolen and replaced with a Nissan Rogue, according to a report by The News Gazette.

Not exactly what we’d call an even trade.

Of course, it wasn’t intended to be a legitimate swap. And we certainly can see how the situation could lead you to believe that the Jeep was the victim of an elaborate prank or some other fun. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case.

According to police, the Rogue had been stolen a few days before the Jeep, which suggests that the thief was probably looking to ditch the Nissan when the culprit came across the Wrangler.

Of course, that doesn’t necessarily explain why the car thief would single out the Jeep as his next vehicle to steal. In a bizarre twist, the Wrangler was later abandoned on a nearby train track where it was struck by a freight train. It wound up being dragged about a quarter mile before ending up on its side alongside the railroad track.

Luckily, it appears that the Jeep was the only thing that suffered any injuries as a result of the crash. Police are still on the hunt for the thief.
