Hot Mods: Transform the Rear of Your Jeep to Look Even More Badass

By -

Check out how YouTuber Stradman upgrades his Wrangler’s rear.

The Jeep Wrangler is a machine that is perfectly built for modifications. And there are many aftermarket parts that can help owners customize their Wrangler to suit their tastes. However, modifying your Jeep on your own can seem a bit intimidating. But it is doable, especially when you do your research and know your capabilities.

YouTuber Stradman shows just how easy it is to change the look of your Wrangler’s rear. Stradman has a few videos on his channel featuring his various Jeep mods. In his latest video, Stradman changes out the rear bumper, replacing the factory piece with a heavy-duty, short steel bumper, which allows for better approach and departure angles off-road. Also, it is sturdier than his current bumper, and should last for the life of the Wrangler, no matter what you put it through.

We should give you a warning that the host of this channel is not exactly laser-focused on the task at hand, which is actually a testament to just how easy these upgrades are to make. He is anxious to remove the “atrocious” plastic rear bumper and replace it with a Body Armor 4×4 rear bumper. With the help of a pal, the two easily remove the plastic bumper in about three minutes.

‘The direct comparison between the OEM tire & new BFGoodrich wheel setup? Nice!’

After a brief socket mishap, things get back on track and the bumper is installed. The lesson? “Get the right sized socket, it’s imperative,” Stradman jokes. Hey, we’ve all been there. As he unwraps the equipment he notes how heavy-duty the new bumper is. And then he gets to the tires. The OEM looks downright anemic next to the new 35-inch sturdy wheel. “The direct comparison between the OEM tire and the new BFGoodrich relations race wheel setup? Nice!

After a quick break to play with a drone, go to Wal-Mart, and race Go-karts, the boys get back to work. Next, they install the aftermarket spare-tire frame, the bracket for the tire and the tailgate strut. The end result is a complete transformation from the stock Wrangler rear end.

The finished look is tough and solid, and it all works smoothly and effectively. While Stradman doesn’t give an exact price, these are all aftermarket items that you can find easily online and at competitive pricing. And, no offense to Stradman, but if these two goofballs can do this so seamlessly and quickly while making a video and being distracted by any number of shiny objects, this is a completely realistic job for the home mechanic.
