Default Relocating mirror??? Suggestions???

Here is the drivers side relocator bracket on the jeep. The only thing is the holes in the door. I want to leave the stock mirror off if I can figure a good way to cover that hole up. Ideas any of you smart people on the forum?

Here is the mirror installed:

It took a little while for me to do it, but I work, and go to school. I went to Home Depot and bought 2 of those 5 inch round things that cover/prevent holes from being made in the wall behind a doorknob (the textured ones look real good when the paint matches). I then painted it to match (4 coats of color and 6 of clear). I then proceeded to move the double sided tape to the middle (to clear the round part from the mirror hole) and places adhesive caulk around the hole. Then I stuck them together. I will try for pics when I do the passenger door, but I have completed pics somewhere (will post when I find them).

Default Good fix!

That looks good, I may do a black plastic cover, I don't have access to a paint shop. At first I was thinking just bolts painted with touch up paint, but then I saw how big the outer holes were, now I have to look at the hardware store for a better idea.

Default Possible Idea

Hey all,

I just got my mirror relocation bracket for my birthday!! My parents finally took my wife's advice on what to buy me!!

Anyway, I have not mounted it yet, but realized I have the same issue. What do I put where the stock mirror was?

I was thinking/wondering. Could I leave the bracket on and only mount the mirror when I take the doors off? That way I have the factory mirror on the door for most driving, and then just screw the mirror on to the proper torque while the doors are off.

Also, did you guys tap the bracket? It said it would make installation easier. I figure if "tapping" does what I think it does, unscrewing the mirror only when I put my doors back on will be the best solution.

I went to the dealer and picked up a spray can of touch-up paint ($10). Placed the door-knob-hole-stopper-thingy on a plank of wood on my front lawn, and sprayed. I let it dry in the garage.

Oh, thanks for the tip, I will have to do that then. It looks much better than my idea of pumping black silicone in the holes Hmmmm..... How big are the Project JK decals? Might be a good location.....

wow, thats exactly what i was going to reccommend... Looks awesome!! but i bet it would still look fine just in a flat/satin or even gloss black paint too. The fenders are black plastic, the bumpers, the mirrors... so whats one more spot of black plastic. I once used this technique to fill a hole on my TJ that was left from the antenna mount... some black abs plastic, a few stainless screws, and all was well. looks good though painted too.

I no longer have the mirror, and I was leaving the black trim to my 4' whips (still pricing), and windshield mounts.
