I'm looking at getting one of those purpose built Bluetooth GPS units and APP as my off road GPS system. Has any one tried this option and do you have any recommendations? Specially, I'm looking at the Bad Elf Pro

What about this makes it a better option than the iPhone's built in GPS with an app? I've only used a Bluetooth GPS device back when I used a PDA (and it worked great then), never thought about using one with an iPhone or iPad. Also, is it enough of an incentive to purchase an iDevice? I see it only works with Apple devices.
