Default Weapon Lock-up

So, with limited space in a Wrangler, where do you place your handgun to be accessible, safe, AND secured? Have JKU, kids (8 & 5) that are taught but not trusted alone with guns, and live in high theft area. Vehicle carry presents some real problems. Has anyone driving a Wrangler come up with a best practice?

If its not on my person, most likely will be underseat lockbox.

Seems to be the most economical as well

I have two under seat boxes to secure them when they aren't on my person.

If it's not on my person it's in the back in the storage flap that is secure when you shut the tailgate

ND is an open carry state, so my 6 shooter is in its holster on the gunbelt, at all times, except in the shower, but it is still within arms reach

Tuffy makes a nice lockable under seat box just for this. That is what I am planning on installing.

I have a Tuffy drawer under each of my seats and their Cubby cover for the rear storage. I ordered all three keyed the same. Tuffy makes outstanding products. Bestop makes an underseat drawer as well that is lower cost but not quite as nice. Both are good products but the edge definitely goes to Tuffy.

Console Vault makes a separately locking steel insert for the console. Good quality. You'll need the key lock and not the combination lock. The combination lock creates a clearance issue with the upper console tray, which isn't something they tell you on the website. They seem nice enough to work with so swapping it out for a keyed lock shouldn't be an issue.

We also use one of the generic Tuffy underseat boxes and those work well too.
