Word of caution- the bestop can be broken into in less than 30 seconds with a screwdriver and without causing much of a scene. I have a friend who swore the bestop was secure and there was no way I could get into it.

At the beginning of the year I installed Tuffy's center console for my 2012. It is definitely beefy and has 2x (*edit - actually 75% more) the room of the oem center console. You even have the option of installing your CB/Ham radio inside if you want. It is pricey. Buy once, cry once.

Nice! Where does the extra space come from. Is it deeper or longer ? The picture makes it look like it protrudes farther toward the back.

Dave from Northridge 4x4 does a direct comparison of the two boxes. The tuffy is deeper and properties further. Mine will touch the pedals when fully extended.

Thanks karls. I have the Tuffy under seat box and love it.
I was specifically asking on the center console.

Extra space comes from a couple of design areas...
1. It's taller than OEM. It's actually the perfect height. I feel like I'm sitting in a lounge chair now since the door armrest and this center armrest are at the same level.

2. More efficient use of interior space inside the console vs OEM. Lengthwise there isn't much difference. Rear cup holders are at about the same place from what I can visually tell. Not enough for me to really care about and/or notice if there is.

If you need quick access to anything, much easier to draw/pull from the center console vs. reaching underneath your seat. Plus the "perp" can't tell if you're grabbing for something or not.....

Anybody ever use the Tuffy under seat with seat airbags? I noticed an electrical mount under the seat. Wonder if it's in the way?

I have one under my seat and I had to remove the air bags connector from its mount and let it hang loosely so that I could mount the tuffy lock box. Now the wire just sits on top of the box. I've had no issues so far

Carry it on your person.
