I think the key to any grease gun is to us a long, flexible line between the gun and the outlet. The one I use is 36 inches long. This keeps the gun out of the way and helps with getting to the grease zerks. Like this one - https://smile.amazon.com/Lumax-LX-12...extension+hose

As for my gun of choice, I have an air compressor so I use an air-driven gun - https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...red-grease-gun

For ease of loading make sure it can take the cartridge style grease tube. I think most grease guns do. If you have to hand pack the gun that can be very messy.

Looking for the holy grail. lol. That $200 DeWalt grease gun looks damn fancy! One of these days I need to go buy a pneumatic one like jedg uses. I think more than anything, it's about ease of use. being able to pull a trigger with one finger vs. a pistol grip or big lever means you can focus on the zerk end.....and if you're using a needle fitting or some other than the traditional fitting, you gotta make sure you're holding it in place properly. They're all messy to some extent, and as long as you're buying something that takes a cartridge rather than hand packing like seizer highlighted, they're all about the same in regards to loading. I've yet to find a hassle free grease gun that I couldn't manage to make a complete mess with!

This is a great grease gun if your looking for a manual gun, comes with handle or trigger.
