Maine OHV Areas
Moving to Maine from SoCal. Does any body have any information on where some good wheeling trails are at in Maine? Thanks for all of your suggestions.

I have been searching and searching and searching for trails in the southern Maine/New Hampshire area. I have come up empty. Seems like the only trails are for 4 wheelers (quads) and snowmobiles. Is there a secret door I haven't found yet? Need some pointers here.

Check out field and Forrest in NH. You will need to join a club to get in there though.

Northern Maine has tons of dirt roads, you can always find someplace to wheel if you don't mind doing some backwoods scouting. It is mostly logging roads and you can always find a road where the culverts were dug out or a winter road that is not maintained and usually has its share of challenges. It may not be like rock crawling out in the deserts but I always figure if im out in the wilderness with my jeep it has to be better than sitting at home.

well, what part of maine are you in?...I took a 100mile+ trip up the golden road a couple weeks ago. There are so many little trails and detours on this one private road, than you could explore in the life of 6 jeeps...Northern maine basically is a jeep trail. Many discontinued roads, and logging roads remain open to the public..Basically once your north of bangor, the "REAL" Maine begins. With all the windmill projects, many new areas have been opened to the public that were before inaccessible. And we have more sand/gravel pits then people...Moral of the story is you should be able to find plenty to keep you busy!
