Are you going to be working downtown? If so, stay away from Brandon and north tampa. Traffic is horrible.

It really depends on where you are going to work and if you don't mind a little travel. If you have kids you want to think about a good school district. I am in a great school district in the Lutz/Cheval area because of my kids and don't mind the 30 minute drive everyday to Tampa for work. If you are 20 or 30 and single something you may want to consider Hyde Park or even Westchase near the center of town as it appeals to the single life with the bar and restaurant scene.

Plant City is east of Tampa between Tampa and Lakeland so you could live near the city but you would have to deal with downtown traffic. Plant City is laid back and fairly quiet and Lakeland recently has been growing commercially and any store/restaurant/and Starbucks of course is being built near there. Commuting would be easier and another plus is you'll be closer to the mouse in Orlando if you have little ones. All of the decent wheeling is done a little further north so you will need to travel for that regardless.

Hope this helps
