That's not a tent! it's a portable expo center! Wow!

Isn't the point of a mounted tent to lower the amount of time it takes to set up, and break down camp? and to get you off of the dirt of course. It seems like that set-up fails at both...

That said... I can't think of a better setup for the fella who sets up camp for a week or two in one spot.

hey guys the tent is made by My Way tents in south africa, imported by camping labs. see fernando a great guy to deal with,,

yes the tent is large , we use it as a base camp and usually set up for a minimum of 3 or 4 days at a time

set up aint too bad really. the girlfriend and i can set it up in about 10 mins in the dark,

for quick set ups and if the weather is good you dont need the tarp .. then the set up would be 5 mins at the very most, the nice part is a full queen size mattress, the beding is left in the tent so that is quite the time saver as well

What kind of material is that tent made out of? Is it a heavy canvas or a light nylon? I worry about spending all that money on a RTT and have it wear out or get torn in a short amount of time. Do you think the quality is there such that it could last 10 years with frequent use?

Here is what their website says:
"Tents are the heavy duty model from the South African manufacturer. Made out of light weight ripstop canvas these tents are both extremely durable and surprisingly light in weight for a trailer tent".

Very interesting! I wish I had the extra cash lying around to get one of these.

oh yaaa it should be very durable, i try to get out out every couple of weekends for 4 or 5 days during the sumer months,
i have had absolutely zero issues, and it should last a long long time if taken care of properly, the floor will probably wear out before anything else, it is a poly material like a tarp, when i set up camp i put a tarp underneath the floor to protect it from the dirt / rocks / roots etc. and i also carry a hunk of carpet to throw down inside, the ladder is aluminium and i also made some feet out of tennis balls to protect the floor as well.

this should be the last tent i ever have to buy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ever.

At first I started out thinking the roof top tents were a pretty good idea, and then i saw the roof top tent on a camper and it became my focus. I've spent the better part of today looking at them online, (not a whole lot to choose from ) and the one i found now that really peaks my interest is the Adventure Trailers, Chaser model. It looks like one capable little sucker. Especially after a few after market add ons Not to mention that the price on this one wont quite break the bank as much as some of the others ive seen that have a lot of added....well, junk.

adventure trailers are very very nice , but 6 grand just for the trailer and then everything else is extra. you could find a 416 or the canadian m101, if you look for 600-1200 depending on condition , a couple of hundred bucks in mods and then throw a tent on top, thats pretty much all i did,
