Looking for some advice and info on what size of a Pop up Camper can be pulled by a JKU Rubicon. The rubicon is stock right now auto with 3.73 gearing but will be getting 3.5-5.5" lift and 37-38" tires in the future with better gearing of course. But for now it will be stock for a bit, definitely want to get the wifey and the boys in the outdoors of Florida. Thanks for any info and advice.

Thanks jedg, for the info on the campers I've been looking and I mostly saw the jeeps on here with 3.8L don't know if it would make a difference in pulling since I have the 3.6L and also don't know if it's the same with dry and pulling weight on the older models and my 2016. I'm going to be looking at some of the Coleman pop ups etc.

Look up a fellow on here that goes by the name of rob-engineer. That fellow has LOTS of experience towing a trailer and he can give you solid advice.

We tow all summer long for camping trips. Our popup is pretty heavy at about 2800 pounds. I've towed this popup in stock form (3.73 gears and stock suspension), with upgraded suspension (2.5" RK lift and Fox shocks and still 3.73 gears) and now with 4.56 gears. With all that said, I would never tow this popup again in stock form. Felt awful. Upgrading suspension was a huge improvement and the hearing only made it that much better.

It's 2800 pounds. Don't remember the dimensions. It's the weight that is the issue.

Well, it's not really all about the weight. Aero is critical as well. I'm one of the folks that have towed 5000 pounds wit my 2012 stock JKU with 3.73 rear manual trans. My toy hauler was shaped like a brick. It weighed 3500 empty, then I put stuff inside including two motorcycles. Totaled up to around 5000 pounds. It did fine, but I would not recommend any heavier. I towed about 6000 miles in NJ, VA, PA, and NC. Stock receiver can't really use the benefit of the weight dist hitch due to the twisting action. The Smittybilt XRC bumper fixes this and makes the tow much improved. Raises the bumper tow capacity to 5000 pounds. Absolutely you need good brakes on the trailer controlled by a brake controller in the jeep. And don't exceed 65 mph. 60 is preferred.
