A couple of our favorite things:

5x8 trailer that allow us to take gear without loading the Jeep chock full
Cots from Cabelas. Mine is HUGE and makes for very comfortable sleeping
A Heater Buddy small propane heater to take the nip off the air in the tent when needed
LED headlamps so we can move and enjoy evening at the camp easily
"Pie irons" which make great baked sandwiched and desserts over a fire or our camp stove
My Honda EU2000i generator. Great for quiet, efficient power when needed

The wife and I had a 5x8 trailer that we used to haul items in to go camping also. We would park the trailer and erect a "portable garage" over it. A queen size blow up air mattress fit in the trailer perfectly. Plenty of room in the trailer to bring along anything else you feel necessary. After you know how to put up the "oversized tent" two people can put it up in a very short time.

I just purchased a roof top tent for my family and it's by far the sweetest piece of camping equipment I've had yet. The mattress in it is great and all bedding stays inside. Folds out in a few minutes. Love it.

A rear hitch mounted Cargo tray is less $ than a trailer and can haul enough for me. Old photo :

and Dual Batteries for an Engel 15Qt Portable Fridge-Freezer. Agreed it's not as good as the new Arb, but this Engel was half the price and large enough for me. The Engel Transit Slide Lock Plate For MD14F/HD14F makes the fridge mount securely to the Bestop Cargo tray and allows the fridge to be easily removed.

We have one of those too we use for smaller camp load outs. Just depends what were doing, how long we're staying, etc. but they're also very useful.

I used to make-do with foam pads or air mattresses (that do and will eventually leak), and finally discovered Therm-a-Rest, in my opinion they're the king of camping mattresses. For a decent night's sleep, pay-up (they're $100-150 each) and get a Therm-a-rest, they are $, but WELL worth it.
