Sadly I will be at my parents house and my g'f parents house for Thanksgiving up in Staunton/Luray area's or I would love to hit Potts with you. I actually did it for the first time about 3 weeks ago now with a buddy. I notice that you have the same set-up that I am running but you have a sport. Do you have a winch or lockers? If you don't have lockers but have a winch I would say you will be fine up there on Potts. One direction is easier than the other direction. If you go the easier route then you should be fine without a winch or lockers. If you go the harder route I would suggest having at least a winch. If you want more details let me know and I can try to pin point it on google maps so you know where you are going. Here are some pictures from my ride up there a few weeks back. *Note that this is the main trail and not the obstacle. If you look on the last picture past my Jeep on the right in the back ground you will see the obstacle. It is about a 5 foot rock wall*

No winch, no lockers.
Did you have any body/undercarriage damage? I'd be interested in the easiest route for the first time up. I'll need to find another Jeep or two if I'm going to do it. Thx for the info!

[QUOTE=65Cobra;3298783]My drop brackets got scraped and my TC skid got some scrapes. Rear pumpkin touched at one point just slightly (need to get the aev skid for it). You might be fine without lockers or a winch if it is dry up there going the way I went. The day I went it had rained a few days before and Sandy was rolling in over the mountain so things were slick and that section the pictures were in is 1 of 2 hard places where there is no way around it. My buddy I was with had a YJ with 6" and 37's and was having problems in that spot on a different line that he normally does all the time. He went the line I went and even had a little issue due to his short wheelbase. I had the lockers on and had no problems at all. I did touch a tree with my bumper from the first picture. It was the safer line but it was touch the tree or take a rock to the driver side. Ill get on google maps and try to post both ends of the trail so you know where you want to go. I know when I was first looking for the trail information about it was very limited!!
Cobra65:
Here are the coordinates for the trail.
Easy Direction:
37.599287,-80.15441 (This coord puts you on Potts Mtn Road. You will get to the end of the road to a T and just to your right you will see the small parking lot area with the sing for the trail head)
Harder Direction:
37.635624, -80.051499 (This coord puts you on 617 before you get to the trail head. It will come up on your left and its a sharp turn in down the hill. Once to the bottom of the hill you will see the sign for the trail.)
Let me know if you have any other questions.
