I'm in the same boat as you! Just bought my Jeep a few weeks ago and haven't even gotten to put her in 4-wheel-drive yet.
I'll end up heading to the GWNF in VA one of these weekends since I don't think there's anything closer than 2-2.5 hours. |
Relocated to VA from SoCal. Wondering the same thing. I've heard GWNF is pretty nice. It's alot of logging trails. Not sure how technical it is. Be cool to get a group together.

I've done Peter's Mill at GWNF already (with my old Explorer) and it wasn't too bad. Definitely stocker-friendly. There was one steep hill with gravel and loose rocks that was a little challenging but I'm sure would be cake for anything with a few mods. Other than that it was just a really nice stroll through the woods, haha. It is also the northern-most trail near Edinburg.
Here's something I just found with a little more info: George Washington National Forest - North River Ranger District (Harrisonburg Area) - Dirtopia, the Off-Road Encyclopedia |
Good deal. Is there good camping in that area too. Make a good weekend out of it.

I would be down to make the trip

I'm hoping to make some friends and find someone with land. |
