Thanks for replying! I was wondering where the Swiss were!

I am considering a job opportunity in Basel and was wondering about how is it like the life of a Jeeper in Switzerland. What can you tell me about it? Are there any mechanical shops that are good enough for a JK? What abou places to wheel? Is there a Jeepers group w a web page that I could be directed to?

Any word of advise on importing my JK from the US? Regulations, are the Swiss authorities ok with lifted Jeeps (only 2.5'').

Thanks for your help in advance!

Hey Vuck Roger,

You won't like the answers I can give.
There are not many places to have fun with your Jeep around here. Germany and France have some off road parks, and there are tracks (old military roads) in the french and the italian Alps. But Switzerland itself doesn't have much to offer.

Since the JK is pretty easy to work on, there are some shops that can handle it, but they are rare. (Don't expect an official dealer to know more about your JK than you do)

You can run your vehicle with your US plates for one year. After that you'll have to go through swiss inspection and get swiss plates.
Biggest problem here would be the strict pedetrian safety regulations (steel bumper with hoop). Are you running the AEV lift?? Over here you get the AEV lifts with documents for approval.
I've searched the internet and found this link: O. Engel GmbH Urdorf
Think they could give some more opinion and advice on importing the JK.
