Anything you want,,, If some bastard breaks into you're house and hears you ratchet a shell into a shotgun, he won't stick around long enough to find out what brand it is,,, and if he does, he deserves not to find out anyway!!!!!!
I'm partial to Remington myself, but for home defense, it is only a matter of $$$$ you want to spend!

I just bought a semi mp5k clone in 40cal. If it is a reliable piece I might turn it into a bad guy splitter. I have always worried that NFA registry guns would be bad for home defense though. Kinda don't want to see one drive off with a cop while the DA clears you... I think pistol is best. but I havent seen an option listed I wouldn't stake my life on. Just dont count on the police to get there in time to save you. Mossy 590 is a bad ass shotty with a great safety location IMO. I think if you live in an area that allows title 2 transfers to civillians you can even get a short barrel version (13-14" I think).

I am a Remington 870 fan. Its reasonably priced, tough, reliable and a proven performer. There are also plenty of accessories available in the aftermarket so you can mod it up just like your Jeep.

As stated earler, Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. I have the Mossberg and I think she works just fine. Plenty of accerssories for the 870.... can't go wrong with either

Remington 870 is what I use as well. A few cops have told me everyone knows the sound of racking a pump shot gun and if a thief heard that I bet they'd run before you had to shoot. If they didn't, sucks to be them.
Do you guys use slugs or buck shot? I'm guessing buckshot would be enough so you don't kill the guy but incapacitate him. Not sure what the laws are on that (not that I care if my family is threatened).

I have an 870, keep debating on selling it or pistolgripping it for home defense.
...but i actually like my 12ga SxS best. It has visual impact like a slide has audible impact. Twin 12ga doubles looking at you appear the size of 50gallon drums.

Me too. I have a vintage JC Higgins side by side 12 that's been shortened just enough. It's a nasty surprise. Rock salt in one side and #4 law enforcement in the other. In case they don't get the point.
