Default JK or JL Time Sensitive

I'm looking to buy my first Wrangler. I'm very torn between getting a 2017 Rubicon Recon JK or to wait for the 2018 JL.

I feel I need to make a decision fast as the choices on the 2017 JK's are selling fast.

JK or JL.. Hmmm!

Thoughts? Suggestions are greatly welcomed

Personally I would never buy the first model year of any vehicle. Also, it depends on what you're planning to do with it. If you want to mod it there are 10 years of R&D for the JK and lots of options. I would suspect that it may take a few months for the aftermarket to catch up on the JL, and even then there probably won't be as many options.

Now with all that being said, if I was financially able to buy a JL then heck yeah I would...but I would wait for the Diesel

If you are torn between a JK and JL get a 2018 Recon. Save a bunch on a loaded one. I just bought a new 2018 recon unlimited knowing that the JL's were going to be out in short while but Dennis Dillon jeep in Caldwell Id made the choice pretty easy.
msrp was 50310 otd was 42520 and if military would have been 42020. They do a lot of fly in drive out business. There was no surprises when I got there. In and out and driving away in my 2018 Recon.

Love my JK, its not going anywhere, but if I were buying now or in the near future no doubt the JL. Man, the more I see it the better it looks! I'd wait and give the turbo 4 a shot, that option looks intriguing. The only thing I don't like is the price! Wranglers sell like hot cakes and FCA knows it!

x 2 on that; be patient and wait for the 2019 JL. If you have to get a Wrangler right now, get the 2017 and do the TreadLightly 1% below invoice, work-down from that price getting competing bids. You could also just buy my 2013 JKUR!

I know Dennis Dillon was no haggle (they wont haggle the price they give is the price you get from the git go) was essentially 10% below invoice. and 15.5% under msrp. It will be interesting to see if they do the same on the JL's.

Keep in mind it's not an either or for a while. FCA announced they will continue to produce the JK for several years after the JL release. They expect to sell 250k of the JLs and 100k of the JKs ( supposedly titled the 'wrangler classic' ) a year for the first few. I imagine the price of loaded jk rubis is about to become very attractive for a few years.

I thought it was only for the first half of 2018 that they were both going to be produced and then the jk was going to fade away Seems if they were going to produce the 2018 JK longer then customer orders would still be able to be made on the JK's.. Could be wrong but that is what I remember reading.

Yeah, looks like the end of March will be the end for the JK. No way they would build it for "several years".
