The YJ Wrangler: The Yuppie Jeep?
The YJ Wrangler: The Yuppie Jeep?
https://www.jk-forum.com/wp-content/...JK-Forum-2.png These days, it's hard to see the Jeep Wrangler as anything other than an adventure vehicle. Read the rest on the JK-Forum.com homepage. >> |
Haha...I love my YJ. I drive it more than the JK. Yuppies and leaf springs just don't seem to go together these days. ;)
And they called the TJ the trendy Jeep. |
I remember my sister buying a YJ back in 1990. We had just moved to Texas and she wanted a Jeep so bad. It was the cheapest YJ on the lot. Black, soft top, manual tranny, 4-banger engine, no radio, and no a/c....heck, who needs a/c in Texas?? LOL...I think it cost like $9800 brand new. She just showed up with it in the drive one day as the dealer let her take it for a day before buying it. I took one look and said "this is a manual....you don't know how to drive a manual....how did you get home? How did the dealer even let you off the lot with this thing for the night?" That thing was the easiest 5-speed I've ever driven....course it took like 2 minutes and a mile of runway to get up to 60mph. I also rememer her side mirrors being worthless because they would just flop down at the slightest vibration.

i thought YJ meant - yesterdays jeep and TJ stood for - todays jeep ... what does JK represent ? |

I had a 93 YJ 4 banger 5 speed that I bought new for $12k. Same deal, no radio, etc. It was beautiful and I put about 130k on it. It had about 130k and was in perfect shape when I sold it. I kick myself to this day for selling that Jeep.
I moped around for 5 years until the JKU came out. I love the JK just as much, but man that YJ handled like a sports car. It had 50/50 weight distribution. What a hoot it was! |
