1994 grand cherokee vs cherokee
Is there off road modifications for a 1994 grand cherokee or cherokee? I have a friend with one (not sure which version) and I was thinking of buying it for off-roading. Not anything like rock crawling but I'd say moderate trails.
Suggestions? Or should I not even bother?!

Definitely check the model because the motor and tranny are very different in the two. I believe the Grand came with a V8 and the XJ came with an inline 6 cyl. Both will do fine off road with a couple upgrades but I think the GC was made more for onroad and comfort versus the XJ which is a little more rugged.

I had a '94 XJ that did just fine on forest roads and getting to elk camp in November. It had the 4.0L straight six with a auto tranny. Aside from the 31: tires, everything else was stock.
