Help! 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited
Cannot find problem with1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited. Starts and idles but will not continue running when throttle is pushed. Has fuel pressure and been tuned up. It has 180,000 miles on it. What do you think the problem could be????? Help!

tps sensor...
3 wires go into it, one a constant hot, one a ground and one sweeping voltage depending on throttle position, should sweep from .5 to 5 volts or there abouts.
This is assuming you have good fuel pressure

i had a TJ to this once... turned out to be a vacuum line that popped off... being an older jeep and the milage in your case, check all the vacuum lines for cracks breaks etc... i know broken vacuum lines tend to cause high idle and what not, but give it a try anyhow, it worked on my TJ, popped that sucker back on and she ran like new. good luck

My '99 did something similar, I had to keep the throttle up while on the brake. It finally just gave out and it turned out to be a dead battery. Replaced the battery and good as new.
