Renting an auto JK at Moab next week
Going to be in Moab next week and for logistical reasons, we're not driving our JK there this year. We have a JK reserved and I just realized that I've never off-roaded in an automatic transmission vehicle - ever. I don't know if that's weird, but I'm wondering how you usually manage? Do you let the auto do it's thing or do you use the L1 and 2? Do you use the parking brake much?
I'm sure I'll figure it out, but it was an interesting realization after only owning/driving manual transmissions my whole life.

LOL, you might be amazed how much easier it is. If you're crawlin' things, 4Lo, put in drive...go.

You'll also notice that the 'hill start brake assist' is actually useful in an automatic. I hate it in my wife's manual JK and love it in my automatic JKU

have them show you how to use hill descent assist for going down hill. you will be amazed. it only works in 4 lo and if you tap the shift lever to 1st gear (have them show you that feature) it will keep you at 1mph no matter how steep the hill unless of course you drive over a cliff and then it disengages.

You guys apparently cheaped out on adding the "free fall assist" option.
