The wave

I know this has been talk about many times here but one of my very good friends recently bought a TJ and I told him about "the wave" he responded with "that's dumb I'm not doing that". Needless to say I was offended and explained the rules which with a quick google search are readily available. He was still stubborn about it telling me "well send me your address and I'll send you a cliche sticker that says "it's a jeep thing you wouldn't understand" "
I responded with
I live on the corner of freedom ave and 'merica drv next to the statute of liberty you can't miss my house is flying a huge American flag. I know where your commie shack is right next to an ornamental hammer an cycle. Flying the commie flag,
My jeep will be proudly displayed there possibly on the lawn and even if I see another patriot jeep brethren pass by I will give the "jeep wave" to him or her for they understand they pain and love of owning a jeep. We as a jeep community choose 4 wheel drive boxes on wheels that get terrible gas mileage just because we want a vehicle with removable doors and a optional top. That's can trek through mud and crawl over rocks. The jeep is loud, bumpy, rattles, eats gas like it's going out of style, burns oil and yet we still love them. There will be some poser jeep owners who buy one because it "seemed like a good idea" and those people come and go but red blooded American jeepers wave and they wave proudly because this is america, they know the jeep had a hand in winning that freedom weather it was trekking though mine fields or being driven by Elvis the jeep was there. So go ahead and be a commie and don't return the wave. Because you already hate freedom and the American Dream.
"There's a special place in Prius hell for those jeepers who don't wave."(quoted from another Jeeper)
Maybe it is a jeep thing sir and you don't understand
Let me know what you guys think haha
(Btw he's not a commie, we both fought in Iraq together)

You got offended because he doesn't want to wave.

Maybe its time to stay off the Internet for a while.

Jesus man...I do the whole wave thing but it has absolutely nothing to do with America or freedom.
Just a little "hey we like the same thing" gesture...that's it.

Let you know what we think? Okay, I think you should start with a basic writing or English class. Either class will help you express your ideas in a more coherent (or generally understandable) manner. To be transparent, I had to read your rant three times to understand it...and I'm still not sure I do.

So, are you saying that you have to be an American (as you've defined them) to participate in the Jeep wave? I understand the desire for a reciprocated wave and would prefer everyone in our community participate, but to demand that the Jeeping community adopt your world view is atrocious. I've served with and still know several extremely liberal (aka socialists) Jeep owners (JK, TJ, YJ and CJ) and they all participate in the wave. In fact, the most liberal Jeep owners I know are U.S. Military members (Marines, Soldiers, and Airmen...officer and enlisted) who've served in Afghanistan, Iraq, and many other places. I just don't believe political views or social ideologies have anything to do with the Jeep wave.

Everyone go enjoy your Jeep, wave when you can, and be happy!

Yeah. Somewhat moderate Democrat here. Even voted for President Obama. Twice! Retired USAF Chief Master Sergeant. 27-1/2 years. Been a few places, done a few things during those times.

Democrat who also served in the military and voted for Obama twice and I live in UTAH. There are Jeeps everywhere and hardly anyone waves unless your driving in Moab, but I still wave at all the Jeeps I pass by and if they don't wave back it's no big deal to me.

Why did YOU have to include this in your reply? Did it help your manliness to first insult him and belittle him? Bet you're the guy who goes into a restroom at an airport and thinks the cleaning attendant is beneath you and never tips them. You need to go back to school and take a humanities class.
PS- I wave to all jeeps. It's tradition.

Patriots aren't Jeeps.

BlackRockBurner 10-24-2015 08:49 AM

Communism is not harming the American Dream and Freedom, but un-checked corporate capitalism is. Neither have any bearing on waving at other jeeps.

Here's one to throw out there regarding jeeps iconic seven slot grill that was used in court to keep Jeep distinct from Hummer. (Although Jeep lost trademark court battle to Hummer it was Important when a China company was in negotiations to buy Hummer off of GM during the unchecked banking meltdown recession) Why remove/ mess with an iconic signature trademark 7 slot grill with the unibrow- angry eyes look or single opening grill?
