Does anyone know for sure what models of the MyGIG radio will work in a 2012 JK?
I know it is the high speed can bus, but have been told the can bus is different on the 2011-2012's and won't work with 2007-2010 radios.?.?.?
I would like to buy a MyGIG with SAT radio but don't need the NAV part.

I don't know if this helps but I took one out of an 09 Jk and installed it into my 2011 before I traded it and all of the features worked fine.

According to lock pick instructions 07-11 have all been high speed. You could email them and ask about the 12

Only the 730N RHR and the 430N RHB will work correctly in the 2011 2012 IF you have the connectivity package.

If you do not want or use the U Connect Feature or you do not have the steering wheel controls on the left side then you are fine.

BUT IF YOU HAVE THE CONNECTIVITY PACKAGE IT WILL NOT WORK!!!

I know this thread is a couple of weeks old. However, I will reply as this information may help someone searching for this issue in the future. I have a 2011 JK Wrangler that I purchased with the bare bones head unit but did have the radio controls in my steering wheel.

I came across a 730N RER from a 2010 Wrangler that did NOT have controls in the steering wheel on this forum. The fellow that had the unit was wary to sell it to me as he had been told that it would not be compatible. I checked with a local dealer and they said it should work so I gambled and purchased the radio. The unit worked right out of the box including the radio controls on my steering wheel. I subsequently added a U-connect microphone kit (82211743AB stand alone kit) that was not included with my purchase for voice commands. I later added a 82211853 Ipod integration kit fior the RER to control my Ipod. Everything that I have tried worked without having to go to the dealer to have them get my vehicle to recognize the unit or features. I do not have a Sirius subscription or antenna but I see no reason it would not work if I did. I believe that the only thing I have not really tried is the connection to a phone as my phone is not on the compatibility list for the Mygig. Since voice commands work I assume that the phone pairing and use would also work. BTW the dealer also stated that adding a subwoofer should also work if I choose to install one at a later date.

There are two different type of steering wheel controls

1. Every wrangler has radio controls on the back of the steering wheel

2. Only wranglers with the connectivity package have the additional controls on the left front of the steering wheel and only the 2012 and 2011 have these

Yes older mygigs will work but the additional features will not.

The older RER works on your 11 because U Connect is integrated into the radio.

I think the RHR will work but the U Connect I do not think is capable however since the RHR has the U Connect Integrated I am thinking it would work.

The RHB has a separate U Connect module and I do not think its capable

If you haven't purchased the unit yet its much easier to stick with the 2007-2010 Mygig
