Default Which CB is better and why?

Hello, I am aware that because both of these radios are pretty cheap that they are both probably crap and purists like yourself wouldn't be caught dead with them. However, can you tell me if every other CB radio on Earth exploded and these were the only two left, which would you choose? First one is a Uniden PRO505XL for $33 brand new and the other is a Cobra 19 DX IV for $39 brand new. Thanks in advance!

Both of those radios are in the same entry level category with very minimal features. Performance should be fairly equal between the two.

Personally I would opt for a Uniden Pro 520 XL for a few dollars more. Amazon sells for $47.00

Depends if you want to stay small or if you want POWER. I run Galaxy 10 meter radios that are converted to CB

I had the Uniden 520 in my former Jeep and it worked fine for group rides and local communication. Well worth it for the price.

Thanks for the feedback. I will be checking out the Uniden 520. Any suggestions on the antenna?

X2 on Wilson or Firestik, again for short distance communication a 4' whip will do just fine as long as your swr's are low

There is a 4' Firestick Firefly FL4 for $18 on eBay. Brand new. Is that the right model or is there a different one? Thanks for the help!

ALL cb's are the same! They are limited to 4 watts of power by the FCC. So buy a radio based on the bells and whistles you want or need.
Spend your money on an antenna and solid antenna placement instead. In theory the higher and the bigger the antenna the further you will be able to transmit.
Now we compromise! Put on a full wave antenna which is around 9 feet long and you'll have a lethal whip - prohibited on a lot of organized Jeep runs. Mount a three foot antenna behind the spare tire nice and low and you'll have a hard time talking to the guy parked next to you. Do a crap job of grounding/bonding the system and you'll talk to no one.
Do some research. Right Channel Radio has some excellent tutorials. See it here: http://www.rightchannelradios.com/
Good luck.
