Default CB interference with JK's computer

I recently got a Cobra handheld CB, Roadtrip. I was trying to use it this morning in my 07 Jk and it scared the mess out of me. I would push the button to transmit and all the dash lights would turn on the buzzer sounded my tach and speedo went to zero for a split second, and everything went back to normal. I couldn't believe it was the CB so I pushed it again, and again the jeep did the same thing. I was too scared to do it a third time. Does anyone else know whats going on? The Cb was connected to the 12v output of the jeep.

Possible ground issue?

Where is the power going? I assume the Battery directly and the Ground is probably inside on the passenger side under dash? In any case, Mine is setup this way and no matter what I change I seem to have heavy static interference on my handheld even with SWR readings at 1.2 for channel 20 and 1.6 for 1 and 40.

I had a similar thing happen the other day. it seemed all power cut (engine seemed fine) and everything went out and came back on a second later... i didn't know what it was at the time. my CB at the moment uses the power plug. the only thing grounded to the car is my antenna... no idea. it scared me too. help would be nice

did that and no difference. I think it might be the radio at this point that's why I'm trying to find a shop within 50 miles. Any further and I might as well order another one due to gas wasted and my time.

no we get that at work w/t our radios out to the ramp if screws up the surrounding electronics

push the button again but move it as far away from the dash as you can

it should be ok

just that the frequency and wattage of the cb is close enough and strong enough to full around w/t your jeeps system

I would def take it into a place that deals with radios. We had a problem with one of our engines at one point that caused so much interference it would make traffic lights turn off when you keyed the mike near them. It also cause all kinds of odd issues.

Sounds like you have recreated a variation of the Stall Bug!

Maybe you can help figure out what is going on with the Stall Bug by troubleshooting your CB?
